Minor characters:
In a series, the minor characters come one by one at the front of the scene. Their personal stories (subplots) suddenly create problems for the main characters.
In New Moon, Jacob’s story (the werewolf story) is the focus of the novel.
In Eclipse, the story of Victoria and her army of vampires is the focus. Also, the friendship between Bella and Jacob become central.
In Breaking Down, the focus is on Renesmee and Jacob.
