I’m an INFJ type personality.
The letters are part of Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) research in psychology, and this is one of the sixteen universal personality types.
Being an INFJ means it is very hard for me to talk about myself. This means that I spend a lot of time listening to others too.
So, it is not strange to know that when I started writing short stories, I based them on other people’s lives.
I love this kind of journalism, the kind that brings you close to other people and try to make sense of their way of life. It is the kind of journalistic writing that requires listening with an open mind, without judging.
This is the kind of writing I love to do, more than writing for children, and more than writing fantasy and science-fiction. Fiction writing is my passion, so saying that non-fiction is more enjoyable is saying a lot.
Fiction, in my opinion, is based on real feelings and emotions so non-fiction must be a good base for fiction.
Just my opinion here.
I love people.
I love their stories.
I love to see how they think, how they react, how they process things because I know they do it differently than me.
It is fascinating.
Recently, I have been reading books such as Nickle and Dimed as well as The Millionaire Next Door. I’ve been watching “The Millionaire Matchmaker” and “Supernanny” with attention because those works reveal so much about how people function.
I feel close to those people who are searching for a way to understand what’s going wrong in their lives. They need help and they’re not afraid to ask for it. I can admire that. We all need help with our failures. No one is the perfect parent or the perfect partner; this has to be taught sometimes. No shame in that.
So, I think everyone can relate to this.
Uncovering secrets.
Mysteries.
Researching life.
We all do it at our own level. We try to make sense of it all. We are all engaged in this path.
I’m glad I can write because, maybe one day, I might do that kind of journalistic writing that changes lives for the better, the kind that helps laws to shift, the kind that gives other people’s hope. Then, I would feel like my life was worth living.
